Q: How have you changed as a teacher in the last couple of years?

A: There is a certain change. Earlier I used to correct the paper to find where the mistake is. Now I evaluate to find the correct thing.

Q: You are the vice-principal of a great institution. Isn't this a dream come true?

A: I never had an ambition to become a vice-principal. I always felt that my role was as important as anyone's for good of this institution.

Q: What do you thing is the problem in De Nobili today? Uncommitted teachers or underachieving students.

A: What is missing is the sense of dedication, sincerity and honesty. Now students come not for knowledge but for information. I want to bring some changes, regarding the academics and discipline both in the students as well as the teachers. That old glory that DNS had, I want it to come back.

Q: You are one of the most senior teachers of the school. How has teaching through the decades changed?

A: In the beginning, I didn't really enjoy teaching. But then I was very fortunate to get the co-operation, advice and guidance of some very dedicated teachers like Ms Usha Gupta, Mr Burman and Mr JN Pandey, who changed my very concept of teaching and I realised that dealing with students in a school or within the classroom was as challenging and interesting as perhaps fighting at the frontline of the country. The experiences at DNS are so enriching!

Q: How was your childhood?

A: My childhood had been full of happiness. I wanted to become an army officer, but due to certain reasons, this didnt happen. I joined De Nobili, my alma mater as a teacher.

Q: What do you have to say about your James Bond looks and your gingery smile? For your students, you are the smiling assassin…

A: I can't help my looks. Laughing It is God gifted. I don't really intend to scare anybody. This look was inherited form my father. He was also very strict but kind at heart.

Q: Have you received full support from your teaching colleagues and the administration during your teaching era?

A: Yes, always.

Q: Any message for all the readers?
A: If you cannot be honest to anybody, at least be honest to yourself. And that will see you through all difficulties and troubles.
