The 20th Inter-Nobilian Elocution and Speech Contests were successfully conducted on Saturday, 22nd August, 2009 at De Nobili School-CMRI. While in the English category Elocution, Extempore, Debate and Story telling were held, the Hindi category contained Elocution and Extempore. The event was declared open by Fr. Michael T Raj, SJ, Provincial of Jamshedpur Jesuit Province, who was also the Chief Guest. Fr George Fernandes, SJ, Director of De Nobili group of schools, Fr George Thana, Rector, Principals and Vice Principals of De Nobili of De Nobili Schools graced the event.

On 15th of June, Fr George Fernandes SJ presented, the keys and responsibilities, of the principal's office to Fr Sebastein Puthenpura SJ, in a ceremony marked by speeches by Mr Raymond Perry and Mr Peter Vanhaeften. The ceremony was attended by the whole school, Fr Thana SJ, Mr Chandrashekhar Francis and other teachers.

23 students get above 90% in ICSE

Harshit Gupta has topped the ICSE exams with 96.83 per cent. Paritosh Kumar Singh has led the science section in ISC exams with 90.2 per cent and Suraj Agarwalla came first with 95.4 per cent among the commerce students.

Overall 23 students have an aggregate of 90 per cent and above in ICSE, while there are ten 6 pointers (90 marks in 6 subjects).

DNS bans private tuition; 75% of parents pay new fee

De Nobili School teachers have signed an undertaking against private tuitions after the school admistration raised their salary on the basis of the new pay scale. This step is a part of the process of change initiated by the outgoing principal, Fr George Fernandes, SJ.

"An undertaking against tuitions from teachers is a part of the much required change. I hope that these reforms will be carried out for the sake of students and for the glory of DNS," said Fr Fernandes. It's an open secret that private tuitions by school teachers had almost become a parallel education industry in Dhanbad district.
