Fr Pius hands over charge to Fr George

Jesuits, teachers, students, parents and alumni gathered in the new McFarland Auditorium on the rainy Saturday evening to bid an emotional adieu to Fr Pius Fernandes SJ and to welcome Fr George Fernandes SJ as the eleventh Principal of De Nobili School, FRI.

For the first time in the history of the school, the incumbent Principal and Rector handed over the keys of the Principal’s and Rector’s Office to the incoming Principal and Rector in a public function. Fr Thana SJ is the new Rector of DNS.

Later in the evening, alumni from Dhanbad, Kolkata and Bangalore honoured Fr Pius for his enormous contribution to this great institution. SK Sinha, the president of Dhanbad Alumni Association thanks Fr Pius for his role in bringing the alumni across the globe together.

Jesuits present at the event included the legendary Fr George Hess, SJ, Fr Victor Misquith, SJ, Principal, Loyola School, Jamshedpur, Fr Eric Misquith, SJ, Administrator, DNS, Fr Woolsie Rodriques SJ, former Rector, DNS. Old teachers including Mr PC Pandey were present. Loyola Alumni Association was represented by Sharad Singh, Secretary and other members.
