Inter-Nobilian Elocution & Speech Contest

The 20th Inter-Nobilian Elocution and Speech Contests were successfully conducted on Saturday, 22nd August, 2009 at De Nobili School-CMRI. While in the English category Elocution, Extempore, Debate and Story telling were held, the Hindi category contained Elocution and Extempore. The event was declared open by Fr. Michael T Raj, SJ, Provincial of Jamshedpur Jesuit Province, who was also the Chief Guest. Fr George Fernandes, SJ, Director of De Nobili group of schools, Fr George Thana, Rector, Principals and Vice Principals of De Nobili of De Nobili Schools graced the event.

This annual event, which brings together the budding talents of De Nobili schools and provides them a platform to display their latent and groomed skills, proved its worth as enthusiastic participants left no stones unturned to fully exploit the opportunity given to them. The contestants ranged from junior classes to the +2 level. Oratorical, extemporaneous and debating skills of the participants were tested at the highest levels, as they had already the won in these events in their respective schools. Participants form seven De Nobili Schools made this mega event a unique experience for themselves and the audience.

4. English Story Telling: 1. Ishita Datta, Vishalakshi Choubey, Shruti Jha (Sijua) 2. Ashi Sen Choudhary, Ananya Atulya, Antara Verma, Sindri 3. Annie George, Nishita Srivastava, Sreeparna Basu (CTPS)
5. Hindi Elocution: 1. Rachna Kumari, Sijua 2. Nidhi Basant, Sindri 3. Koushik Bose, CMRI
6. Hindi Extempore: 1. Aarohi Singh, CTPS 2. Barka, Sindri 3. Pratiksha Khaitan, Sijua

Fr. Michael T Raj, in his concluding address encouraged all the participants and said that the three important things for a speaker are: self knowledge, self inspection and self expression. Fr. George Fernandes remarked that communication is the most important skill. In a competition winning and losing are secondary things and what is more important is how much one experiences and how much one gains. He congratulated the organizers on their commendable job.
The overall Championship shield went to DNS Sindri and the runners up were DNS - FRI.

De Nobili School, CMRI simultaneously hosted the Zonal ASISC Drawing & Painting Selection for students from schools affiliated to the CISCE, New Delhi. More than 40 students from 8 schools in this zone put to use their skill in drawing & painting. DNS CMRI were selected in both the categories to represent Dhanbad at Regional competition to be also conducted at DNS CMRI on 29th August 2009.
