De Nobili School teachers have signed an undertaking against private tuitions after the school admistration raised their salary on the basis of the new pay scale. This step is a part of the process of change initiated by the outgoing principal, Fr George Fernandes, SJ.

"An undertaking against tuitions from teachers is a part of the much required change. I hope that these reforms will be carried out for the sake of students and for the glory of DNS," said Fr Fernandes. It's an open secret that private tuitions by school teachers had almost become a parallel education industry in Dhanbad district. This step by the school administration will be welcomed by all parents. Other schools must also follow this example set by DNS. The school teachers will be expected to concentrate their efforts for educational excellence within the school campus. Initiatives like extra classes have already been rolled out in the junior section of DNS, FRI.

In another step towards educating school teachers about computers and internet, a three-day computer workshop for the junior teachers of FRI and Bhuli was organised at DNS FRI conducted by NIIT. "This was as part of the interactive classes we are going to start at the the Junior school. If successful, it would be extended to other classes," the principal added.

Meanwhile Fr George Fernandes, who is also the Director of De Nobili Branch Schools, has been busy fighting cases filed by the parents of various schools in Jharkhand Educational Tribunal (JET) on fee rise. "Tomorrow we have hearing in HC. If we get a positive respnonse from HC, most of our problems should be over," he said.  Today is the FRI case in JET. An overwhelming number of parents seem to have realised that DNS teachers deserve better salary in exchange of their services. "Good news is that 75 per cent of the parents at Digwadih have paid," Fr Fernandes informed.

To make up for the lost school days, DNS is going to reopen on 15th June after summer vacations.
