21st Inter-Nobilian Elocution and Speech Contests

The 21st Inter-Nobilian Elocution and Speech Contests were successfully conducted on Saturday, 14th, August, 2009 at De Nobili School-FRI. While in the English category Elocution, Extempore, Debate and Story telling were held, the Hindi category contained Elocution and Extempore. The event was declared open by Fr. C L George, SJ, Administrator, XLRI, Jamshedpur, who was also the Chief Guest. Fr George Fernandes, SJ, Director of De Nobili group of schools, Fr George Thana, Rector, Fr. Sebastein Puthenpura, Principal DNS, FRI, Principals and Vice Principals of other De Nobili Schools graced the event.

This annual event, which brings together the budding talents of De Nobili schools and provides them a platform to display their latent and groomed skills, proved its worth as enthusiastic participants left no stones unturned to fully exploit the opportunity given to them. The contestants ranged from junior classes to the +2 level. Oratorical, extemporaneous and debating skills of the participants were tested at the highest levels, as they had already the won in these events in their respective schools. Participants form seven De Nobili Schools made this mega event a unique experience for themselves and the audience.

5. Hindi Elocution: 1. Twinkle Dutta, CMRI 2. Sanket Sanger, Sijua 3. Sweety Mehta, CTPS
6. Hindi Extempore: 1. Sagar Singh, CMRI 2. Barkha Ratnum, Sindri 3. Saket Vikram Singh, Sijua
Fr. C L George urged the students to participate more in such activities and work more hard for achieving Excellence other than achieving Success. Fr. George Fernandes remarked that communication is the most important skill. In a competition winning and losing are secondary things and what is more important is how much one experiences and how much one gains. He congratulated the organizers on their commendable job.
The overall Championship shield went to DNS CMRI and the runners up were DNS - FRI.
