It gives me immense pleasure to note that De Nobili School, Digwadih, is bringing out its Annual Magazine for the year 2006-2007. The contribution of Christian Missionaries in the field of education throughout the world, and in particular in our country, is a well-known fact.  Dhanbad is no exception. Over the past fifty years, the relentless striving for excellence for the cause of education, dispelling the darkness of ignorance, has been the hallmark of De Nobili.

From its hallowed portals, thousands of tiny tots have graduated to become eminent scientists, doctors, engineers, business tycoons and industrialists as well as high ranking government officials and have done their  Alma Mater proud.

With a fine blending of Indian tradition and modernity, the value-based Jesuit education, with impetus on sound character building so as to become men and women for others in the society, has made De Nobili unique among other educational institutions in this region.

I congratulate and express my deep appreciation to the Jesuits of Jamshedpur Province and their collaborators, i.e. the teachers, who have kept the flame of knowledge alive through their dedication and hard work.

As an ex-student, I wish all the best to my young ‘victors valiant’ and ‘conquering heroes’.
