DNS ROLE MODELS inspire others to excel. Listing is based on the responses received from the readers of DeNobili.edu.in. This year’s edition contains names of successful Nobilians from various fields including science, business, technology, arm forces, medicine, education and even music. De Nobili is proud of its students.

Biswadip Gupta

Biswadip Gupta (ISC 1967) CEO, JSW Bengal Steel: Biswadip is the architect in bringing the biggest ever investment in West Bengal. He was managing director of VESUVIUS INDIA. He served as President of Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industries. He is at present President of CII Eastern Region.

 

 

 

Samir SinhaSamir Sinha (ISC 1988) Director, Energy & Utilities and SAP Practice, Tata Consultancy Services, Australia and New Zealand: Samir was invited to be part of “Marquis Who’s Who in the World” 2009 edition. An engineer with over 15 years of experience in managing high technology at global multinationals like Ingersoll-Rand, Oracle and TCS.

 

 

 


Captain Sudarshan Shrikhande Captain Sudarshan Shrikhande (ISC 1975) Commanding Officer of INS Rajput: From 2005-2008, Sudarshan was the Defence Adviser at the Indian High Commission at Canberra, Australia with concurrent accreditation to Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand with responsibility of furthering India's defence cooperation relationships with these countries.

 

 

 

Dr Alok Srivastava

Dr Alok Srivastava (ISC 1975) Head, Department of Haematology, Christian Medical College, Vellore: Alok was the first person from a developing nation to hold the Chair of International Hemophilia Training Centers Committee, World Federation of Hemophilia. He also heads the Center for Stem Cell Research in Christian Medical College, the first such publicly funded centre in the country for stem cell research.

 

 

 

Christopher Powell

Christopher Powell (ISC 1982) Rockstar and founder of Bandish band: Chris formed his first band NIRVANA (India) in 1985, along with his brother Desmond Powell. In 1998, he joined the band EUPHORIA and continued for several years. The song “Goonj” by Bandish held the No 3 position for 10 weeks on the MTV World Chart Express in 2006, No 2 on B4U Music Charts and No7 on Channel V- Top 20.

 

 

 

Anurag Dixit

Anurag Dikshit, (ISC 1990) Independent Internet Professional: At the age of 35, Anurag is one of the richest young Indians. Earned degree in computer science and engineering from Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi. In 1998, at age 25, began working with the then 1-year-old internet casino company PartyGaming. Forbes ranks him 35th on the list richest Indians.

 

 

Samit Ghosh

Samit Ghosh (1961) Founder & CEO of Ujjivan Financial Service: Samit was part of the pioneering management team to embark Citibank’s Consumer Banking in India in 1985-90 and the Arabian Gulf in 1990-93. He led the launch of Retail Banking in South Asia and Middle East for Standard Chartered Bank during 1993-96. In 1996 as Executive Director of HDFC Bank he initiated their Retail Banking business. His last banking assignment was Chief Executive of Bank Muscat in India from 1998 to 2003. He founded Ujjivan Financial Service, a micro finance institution which provides financial services primarily to the urban poor, in 2005.

 

 


Deven SharmaDeven Sharma (ISC 1971) President, Standard and Poor's: Deven joined McGraw-Hill in 2002 and has held a number of leadership positions within the company. It was on the request of his father, RN Sharma, once Chairman of BCCL and then of Coal India that DNS opened its first branch school, in Sijua.

 

 

 


Ramesh RaoProfessor Ramesh Rao, (ISC 1974) Professor and Director of the San Diego Division of the California Institute of Telecommunications and Information Technology: Professor Rao was the Editor for Packet Multiple Access of the IEEE Transactions on Communications and was a member of the Editorial Board of the ACM/Baltzer Wireless Network Journal as well as IEEE Network magazine. Since 1984, he has authored over 100 technical papers, contributed two book chapters, conducted a number of short courses and delivered invited talks and plenary lectures. He is currently supervising eight doctoral students.

 

 

Samir Dayal Mathur

Professor Samir Dayal Mathur, (1975) Professor of Physics, Ohio State University: Dr Mathur was awarded the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) S.N. Bose Young Scientist Award in 1984). He also found a honorable mention in Gravity Research Foundation Essay competitions (2000, 2002, 2003, 2006). In 2003, he was honoured with Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching (Ohio State University) and Society of Physics Students (Ohio State) award for Teaching.
