Every year, scores of students graduate from De Nobili School, FRI. As they move ahead in life, they face a lot of challenges. That’s when their Jesuit education helps them.
What makes them different from ‘others’? When you go through first list of ROLE MODELS, you realise all of them have been leaders in their stream. They have thought out-of-box. They have tried to use maximum of their potentials. And the most important they have always been Men and Women for Others.
The younger generation seems to be mesmerised by wealth and money. Going through the lives of successful Nobilians, we realise money was never their sole focus. Wealth has follows success. Former Nobilian Rajat Bhatia recalls how he got in touch with Anurag Dikshit to help him finance his book on DNS and Fr Hess. Anurag transferred the money within few hours without even asking about the details. He continues to help his alma mater in various projects in spreading the Jesuit education in Dhanbad.Another Nobilian who has been an inspiration is Samit Ghosh. He studied at DNS from 1957 to 1960 and had to shift to Kolkata following his father’s sudden death. His mother, Padma Ghosh was one of first teachers at DNS. After his successful banking career, he followed his conscience and created a micro finance institution which provides financial services primarily to the urban poor. Fr Pius Fernandes SJ, the former Principal says, “Samit continues to be a Nobilian at heart. He was major supporter and a donor in building the Fr McFarland Auditorium.”
Last year has been special for De Nobili family. Deven Sharma was named the new President of the world’s largest financial research firm Standard and Poor's. He continues to be a Nobilian at heart. “Looking back, I am very grateful to educators like Father Hess, who devoted their life to educate and mould young kids in remote locations far from the comfort of their homes in US. There were many other Jesuits, like Father Dietrich, Bradley, Kennedy, Peacock, Cassel and Hunt who made such profound impression,” says Deven.
